Travel by train with London Midland to Liverpool, recently awarded the European Capital of Culture and it's not hard to see why. It is the birthplace of the Beatles and home of Liverpool Football Club and Everton Football Club. It's also a great tourist destination with more listed buildings, theatres, museums and galleries than any city outside London.   • The Royal Liver Building The Liver building is one of the most famous waterfronts in the world. Nestled on top are the two liver birds, measuring over 18ft high and the iconic symbol of Liverpool.
  • Walker Art Gallery The national gallery of the North is home to over six centuries of the finest collections of fine and decorative art in Europe.
