Attractions

Milton Keynes is home to some of the country’s top family attractions including Woburn Safari Park and Woburn Abbey. You can take the whole family to Gulliver’s Land to experience a fun-packed day of thrills and spills. The Xscape complex offers indoor sky-diving, indoor snowboarding and skiing on real snow, a multiplex cinema as well as restaurants and retail stores. Willen Lake offers the chance to have a go at Wakeboarding, or to take to the air on a tree-top ropes course. You can also try sailing, power boating and windsurfing. Milton Keynes is also home to the National Badminton Centre which also acts as Team GB’s UK base.The famous Silverstone race track is just outside Milton Keynes and hosts many top class motor races throughout the year including the British Grand Prix.

Heritage

Although Milton Keynes was only conceived a little over 40 years ago, the area is still rich in heritage, boasting some of the most interesting and varied history in Britain. Woburn Abbey, home to the Duke of Bedford, is a stunning ancestral estate full of history, ancient tales and beautiful grounds. It houses one of the most impressive and important private collections of art, furniture and porcelain on public view. Bletchley Park was the home of the famous WWII Enigma codebreakers and where the first semi-programmable computer was invented – a working rebuild of ‘Colossus’ can be viewed at the Bletchley Park Museum. You can also visit Milton Keynes Museum, The Cowper and Newton Museum, a medieval abbey and the remains of a Roman villa.

Culture

Milton Keynes has an enviable reputation for its arts and culture offering. Milton Keynes Theatre is the most successful theatre outside the West End and has a varied programme of productions from musicals to opera through to stand up comedy and cutting edge drama. The widely acclaimed Milton Keynes Gallery presents free changing exhibitions of international contemporary art as well as occasional offsite projects in and around the city. Milton Keynes also has one of the largest collections of publicly-sited artworks in Britain. Milton Keynes City Orchestra has built a national and international reputation over the last 30 years, becoming established as the live classical music resource for Milton Keynes and the surrounding area. The Stables is Milton Keynes’ premier live music venue and offers a wide choice of musical genres including jazz, blues, folk, rock, classical, pop and world music.
