London Midland is still doing all it can to try to reach an agreement with Aslef, without the need for the planned stike action to go ahead this week. Further news on these developments is expected in the next 24 hours.
In the meantime, London Midland is working on contigency plans in the event that some London Midland train drivers represented by Aslef carry out their industrial action.
Passengers are advised that:
- London Midland is asking other train operators to accept its tickets as valid for the duration of the strke period
- London Midland advanced purchase tickets, valid for the day of the strike action, will be accepted as valid on the day before/day after the strike action instead
- if the strikes do go ahead, they will affect London Midland services between Northampton and London Euston
- details of the changes to the timetable caused by the strike will be available on this website shortly.
When the strikes were first announced, London Midland issued this statement:
"We are disappointed by Aslef's announcement of planned strikes, and the inconvenience their action will cause our passengers.
"We have every sympathy with the drivers affected and want to work with Aslef and the other organisations involved to fund the shortfall in drivers' pensions. The issues will only be fully resolved by continuing the ongoing discussions we took over with our franchise in November last year."
