Local city rail passengers dig deep to raise funds for those overseas

Date: 02 Jul 2010

Passengers at London Midland’s Snow Hill station have shown their generous nature by donating more than £800 over two days to Christian Aid in collections held this month.
During Christian Aid Week rail users passing through the city centre station raised £840 in collections.

Christian Aid West Midlands regional manager, Charlotte Marshall, said: “Raising the amount of money we did in just two days is fantastic.
“To collect almost £1,000 during this short time is a credit to the generosity of passengers at Snow Hill station.

“It’s good to know that local people have extended their generosity to those who live in the poorest corners of the world. Every penny given counts and will help to make a real difference to someone’s life.

“We are grateful for the support of station staff for accommodating us, and the kind donations from passengers. Thank you.”

London Midland customer service manager, Mark Lawton, said: “Snow Hill is one of London Midland’s busiest stations, and it shows that no matter how busy people are, they always have time to give to a good cause.

“We are delighted to help Christian Aid, and look forward to welcoming their collectors to our station next year.”
