London Midland Conductor passes Officers’ course with flying colours

Date: 09 Mar 2010

A senior conductor from London Midland is celebrating after passing the Air Training Corps’ Officers’ Senior Course.

Flying Officer Mohammed Aftab works as a senior conductor for London Midland at New Street station and spends his free time managing 2504 Squadron in Birmingham.

He manages a range of activities for around 25 young people, from flying and gliding to marksmanship, adventure training and expeditions on two evenings a week. Mohammed passed the officers’ senior course at RAF College Cranwell in Lincolnshire – the home of the Royal Air Force.

He said: “It was hugely rewarding to be nominated for the course and to learn about the latest developments in the Air Training Corps. I will always remember being at RAF Cranwell – it is both home of the Royal Air Force and of HQ Air Cadets.”

London Midland commercial director Alex Hynes said: "We're very pleased for Mohammed. It's great that he finds time to do work with young people in the community as well as looking after London Midland passengers."
