National Passenger Survey gives good start to London Midland

Date: 24 Jan 2008

"A good foundation on which to build our programme of improvements", is how London Midland Managing Director, Steve Banaghan, sums up the National Passenger Survey (NPS) results published today.

Steve says,  "The results show good progress in key areas, which give us a great basis on which to build the improvements we are committed to making in the new franchise.

"We are investing in new trains, brighter stations and better passenger information - all areas that we know from the NPS are important to passengers.  This investment will start to show in the things we do this year and we will build on the good work already achieved last autumn on our routes.

"The NPS results will be an important part of how our progress will be monitored over the coming months and we hope to continue to achieve levels of satisfaction which increase with every survey."

London Midland has provided services previously operated by Central Trains and Silverlink County since 11th November 2007.  It is these services, operating last autumn, that the National Passenger Survey results published today cover.

The first National Passenger Survey of London Midland services will take place in the spring, with results due to be published by Passenger Focus later in 2008.  In the meantime, London Midland will use the NPS scores previously achieved by the two predecessor companies as a starting point for measuring its progress since the start of the new franchise.
