London Midland provides extra trains for Cheltenham racegoers

Date: 05 Mar 2008

Racegoers heading for this year's Cheltenham races will benefit from two extra services laid on each day from 11- 14 March, by new train company London Midland.

In addition to the routine morning services offered by other train operators, London Midland will be running two special trains from Worcester Shrub Hill to Cheltenham Spa to help race fans enjoy this popular national event. There will be over 200 seats on each train departing at 10.15am and 12.15pm.

The company does not usually run trains on this route, but London Midland has offered to run the extra services to help cope with the thousands of fans who travel from Worcestershire stations to the famous event.

London Midland Operations Director Andy Thomas said: "Both these services will get race fans to Cheltenham in under half and hour - in plenty of time for the first race, so it's easy to go by train."

People can beat the queues by buying their train tickets in advance.

London Midland is also running a special return train from Cheltenham Spa to Worcester Shrub Hill at 8.20pm.

Posters advising passengers of the additional trains, timetables and fares will be displayed at stations between Stourbridge, Worcester and Malvern.  Information is available on www.londonmidland.com.

The Worcester to Cheltenham fare will be £7.50 return.
