CHANGES TO COVENTRY / EUSTON TRAIN SERVICES FOR BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND 23-25 AUGUST AND BEYOND
London Midland trains between Coventry and Northampton will be replaced by buses over the Bank Holiday weekend of 23-25 August, as Network Rail continues its improvements to the railway.
The work is part of an £9 billion upgrade which will allow faster and more frequent services to London on the West Coast Mainline for all rail passengers.
- Due to the engineering improvements, buses will replace London Midland trains between Northampton and Coventry, from Saturday, 23 August to Bank Holiday Tuesday, 26 August inclusive.
- Trains between London Euston and Northampton will operate to a special timetable on Saturday, 23 August, with buses replacing trains between Bletchley and Northampton from 10.00am
- On Bank Holiday Monday, 25th August and on Tuesday, 26th August, there will be engineering work between Coventry and Rugby and between Stafford and Rugby
- Also on Monday, 25th August, there will be no train services on the Marston Vale Line, from Bletchley to Bedford
- On Saturday, 30 August and Sunday 31 August buses, will replace trains between Coventry and Northampton, due to ongoing work to improve Rugby Station
- With large number of passengers expected to return to work after the Bank Holiday weekend, London Midland is providing a free park and ride service on Tuesday, 26 August at Northampton Saints Rugby Club car park to meet demand. A shuttle bus will take passengers from the rugby club to the railway station every 15 minutes.
In addition:
- On Friday, 29 August, due to engineering work near Bletchley on the West Coast Mainline, the 22.24, 23.24 London Euston to Northampton service will terminate at Bletchley and 23.34 London Euston to Milton Keynes will also terminate at Bletchley
All of these changes are to accommodate a fortnight of concerted engineering work being undertaken by Network Rail.
This covers seven major locations covering 130 miles of the West Coast Mainline between London, the Midlands and the North West. Network Rail will be installing new track, new points, a new subway, new signalling and refurbishing a 450m viaduct.
Details of the bus replacement timetable are on the London Midland website (http://www.londonmidland.com/) and available through online booking services.
London Midland's operations director Andy Thomas said: "The latest rail improvement works are part of an almost £9 billion investment to deliver better rail services.
"In the meantime, our passengers may face some disruption to their journeys. We don't take this lightly, and are working in partnership with both Network rail and other train operators to keep disruption to a minimum and keep passengers informed about changes to their journeys, along with the ultimate benefits of this work."
