A station assistant at Tamworth has won an award for outstanding passenger service after judges noted her welcoming smile.
Kerryann Rice received the accolade at a Gold Awards ceremony for staff held by London Midland.
She was honoured for the help she offered a woman passenger travelling alone. Kerryann accompanied the passenger to the platform, stayed with her until her train arrived and then called ahead to the passenger's destination to ask someone to meet her there.
Steve Banaghan, managing director of London Midland said: "Kerryann stands out even amongst a team known for their friendliness and helpfulness. She's always equipped with a welcoming smile whatever's thrown her way, and has been described as making it a pleasure to travel, even at times of disruption."
The Gold Awards - the first held by the company since it took over the London Midland franchise last November - recognised staff contributions from caring for passengers with injuries, to keeping the network running smoothly, improving technical performance and helping improve the company's environmental impact.
