Schoolchildren from Shrewsbury have written to thank London Midland for supporting their fundraising bid to send pupils to a national cricket tournament.
London Midland offered free travel on its network for a family among a selection of other raffle prizes which helped to raise a record total of £2,800 for St. George’s Junior School.
The school PTA has recently spent £2,000 on books, benches made from recycled materials and cameras.
The money raised in the summer fair will be used to pay for the year sixes to travel to cheer on the school’s girls’ cricket team in the national finals at Headingley this week.
PTA Chair, Amanda Harris, said the trip would be a great opportunity for the youngsters.
“We’re extremely grateful to London Midland and all our supporters for their help and hard work. This is a great opportunity to support our cricket team and we’re delighted to be able to fund travel for 90 pupils to cheer the girls on.”
