Generous London Midland passengers dug deep to raise hundreds of pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support in collections along the West Coast Mainline.
Volunteers collected £860 at London Midland’s Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted, Kings Langley and Tring stations during July, and earlier this year in April.
Felicity Craigen, Chairman of Macmillan Cancer Support’s Dacorum Branch Committee, said the money would be used to help fund posts including a Palliative Care Consultant at the Hospice of St Frances in Berkhamsted, a Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist based within the West Hertfordshire NHS Trust and set up a Hospice at Home Scheme.
Mrs Craigen said: “We would like to thank staff at the London Midland-managed stations for their help with our activities and also all the members of the public for their very generous donations.”
London Midland commercial director Alex Hynes said he was delighted to help Macmillan Cancer Support by allowing them to fundraise at stations.
“Our passengers have been very generous in supporting this worthwhile cause and it’s excellent to see the money raised will be used to great effect in the communities London Midland serves,” he said.
