London Midland has offered a £5,000 reward for information which leads to the arrest and successful conviction following a knife-point robbery at Sandwell and Dudley railway station last Sunday, 15 November.
Detectives from British Transport Police (BTP) investigating the robbery hope the reward being offered by train operator London Midland will see members of the public come forward with information about the incident.
BTP detectives leading the hunt for the culprits hope the substantial reward may bring forward vital information.
Officers are also appealing for anyone who drove past the station, or was parked in the area around the time of the robbery to come forward as they may have information which can assist them.
The robbery took place at about 10.15pm on Sunday 15 November when two men, one armed with a knife, entered the station booking hall at the station which is on Bromford Road.
Detective Sergeant Shanie Erwin, the investigating officer, said: “The two men threatened two male members of rail staff and a male member of the public before stealing cash from the booking office and fleeing the station.
“We would urge anyone with any information to come forward and contact British Transport Police immediately.
“Also, we are keen to hear from anyone who may have driven along Bromford Road, or parked near the station between 10pm and 10.20pm on Sunday 15 November, so that we can eliminate them from our enquiries.”
The man with the knife is white and believed to be in his early twenties. He is around 6ft and of slim build. He was wearing dark clothing with a scarf covering his face. His trousers are described as dark with a white band around the knee.
The second man is white and also believed to be in his early twenties. He is around 5ft 10in and also of slim build. He was wearing a light top and dark trousers.
DS Erwin added: “This was an extremely frightening experience for both the rail staff and the member of public involved. We believe that a number of people may have witnessed this incident and I would urge anyone with information to contact us.”
London Midland commercial director, Alex Hynes, said the £5,000 reward was being offered for information that would lead to the conviction of those responsible.
"This was a frightening incident and we are determined to give the British Transport Police all the assistance we possibly can to catch these offenders," Mr Hynes said.
"We would urge anyone with information to speak to the British Transport Police. Although these type of incidents are thankfully uncommon, we take any behaviour that compromises the safety and security of London Midland staff and passengers extremely seriously."
Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to call British Transport Police (BTP) on 0800 40 50 40 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
