London Midland services have returned to normal on the West Coast Mainline this morning (Nov 26) after Network Rail engineers completed repairs on overhead lines.
Problems with overhead power lines in the Hemel Hempstead area restricted the number of lines available so London Midland operated a special timetable on Tuesday and Wednesday (Nov 24, 25).
Network Rail engineers repaired overhead lines in the Hemel Hempstead area and gave clearance for normal service to commence just before 7am today.
During the disruption, which was prolonged due to high winds making repairs difficult, London Midland operated a special timetable with extra stops and services strengthened during peak times.
London Midland and Virgin tickets were being accepted on both operators’ trains in a reciprocal agreement during the disrupted period and East Midlands Trains honoured London Midland tickets as far as Wellingborough, with a bus service onwards from Wellingborough to Northampton.
London Midland apologises to those who may have experienced delays during this period and would like to thank passengers for their patience.
