Pupils promote rail safety at London Midland’s Kidderminster station

Date: 12 Feb 2010

London Midland has been working with pupils from schools in Wyre Forest to promote safe behaviour on the railways.

Wyre Forest District Council and London Midland challenged young artists from secondary schools to create images around rail safety.

The competition also aimed to create awareness about rail travel – its convenience and reliability and its low carbon footprint – and London Midland’s Great Escape promotion which offers network-wide travel for a day for £10 over half-term week.

London Midland delivery manager for Birmingham South, Janeice Stewart-Nedbaylyuk, said:

“Many children use Kidderminster railway station to both commute to school and also socially, so it is very important for the children to keep safe whilst at the station”.

Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing & Environmental Services, Councillor Tracey Onslow said: “We were impressed by the enthusiasm for this competition and the entries were thoughtful and imaginative. This is a great way to get thinking about rail safety issues and also for parents to be aware of the great deals that are on offer to local and regional tourist attractions.”

Family tickets to the Sea Life Centre, Think Tank and Cadbury’s World were presented to the three winners as prizes and the winning drawings will be displayed at Kidderminster Train Station.
