London Midland asks for local views on station car park

Date: 19 May 2010

Train operator, London Midland is asking for local views on their planned installation of a single tier car park deck at Berkhamsted Station.

The period for local people to give their views runs from Monday 24 May to Monday 7 June (inclusive).

The proposal is for the Berkhamsted car park to have a new steel decking structure, which will provide an extra floor of parking above the existing ground level parking at the station. Once the new deck is installed, an additional 88 car park spaces will be available for use. The work is due to be carried out in July 2010.

Project Liaison Manager, Marsid Greenidge said: “This is an opportunity to garner further views from the local community on what has been a well debated issue over the past year. London Midland has continued to have an open dialogue with those both for and against the proposed improvements for parking at the station.

“We now want to make sure finally that we have heard all points of view on how we can best move this project forward.”

A display of the plans for the car park can be viewed at Berkhamsted Civic Centre during the two weeks that views are being sought on the improvement project.
