Car parking

Car Parking iconWe're continuing to invest in our car parks, creating more spaces, making it easier to pay for parking and securing Park Mark Safer Parking accreditation at a number of stations.

Car park prices (from 24 May 2010)

New parking charges will apply at many London Midland station car parks from 24 May 2010. Daily prices will generally rise by between 20p-50p, with season tickets and scratchcards also seeing a slight increase.

However, there’s some good news, too!

  • We’re freezing prices at several stations (e.g. Berkhamsted)
  • We’re reducing prices at others (e.g. Bletchley all day, Northampton off-peak)
  • We’re leaving weekend prices unchanged at many stations

In addition, our off-peak rate will apply from 10am rather than midday, cutting the cost for thousands of people every week.

These changes will help us continue our £8 million investment in car parking across the network, which has already helped fund hundreds of extra spaces, new ways to pay and ‘Park Mark Safer Parking’ accreditation at a number of stations.

Off-peak rates

Following many requests, we are introducing an off-peak rate at a number of our stations. After  10am during the week and all day on Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays prices will be up to 1/3 less then the normal rate.

Weekend rate
If you're looking to get away for a weekend in London, parking at the station is even simpler with a new weekend tariff valid from midday on a Friday until midnight on Sunday.

Scratchcards
Scratchcards for 10, 20 and 30 days are ideal if you frequently use the car park but not enough to justify a season ticket. These are available for all of our stations and are 10% cheaper than buying daily tickets..

Mobile phone payment
Our new 'pay by mobile' system makes it even easier to pay for your car parking. You can try it out at the following stations: Tamworth, Nuneaton Trent Valley, Telford, Northampton, Wolverton, Milton Keynes, Bletchley, Leighton Buzzard, Tring, Berkhamsted, Hemel Hempstead and Watford Junction.

Cheaper parking for greener cars
It's not all bad news, though: if you drive a low emission hybrid vehicle, you'll be able to park for half price, and if you drive an electric vehicle, parking is free!

Share your journey, halve the cost
You'd be surprised how easy it is to carshare, as well, even if you don't keep regular hours. Check out www.liftshare.com for details on how you could save on fuel and parking costs by travelling to the station with another person.

Do you really need to drive?
Of course, many of us live within walking - or at least cycling - distance of the station. If that's you, why not give it a go now and again? We're improving our cycle facilities at many locations to make it easier, too.
