Watford improvement works 2014-15

Sections of the Euston Line and the Abbey Line will be closed on selected days in 2015 to allow Network Rail to carry out improvement works.

The project

The work is part of Network Rail's £81m project that will see the renewal of track and signalling equipment in the Watford area. This includes the replacement of:

Upon completion in 2015, customers will benefit from:

• A more punctual train service
• Modern and reliable infrastructure
• More fences to discourage trespass and reduce cable theft
• Future increased line speeds

Orphange Road Closure

Network Rail will be carrying out major works to replace the railway bridge at Orphanage Road in Watford throughout February, March and April 2015.

As part of the preparation work to allow for the new bridge to be installed over the Easter bank holiday weekend, Orphanage Road will be closed to road traffic for 12 weeks (Monday 2 February to Friday 17 April).

Pedestrian access will also be limited from Monday 2 February to Monday 23 February from 5.30pm until 7am. After Monday 23 February, pedestrian access will be closed. For more information on alternative walking routes, please download an information leaflet.
