Getting to special events

With so many special events taking place across our network at various locations, our trains can get quite busy. We try to run more trains and provide extra carriages during this time, though it’s not always possible to do this.

Getting to events at Wembley Stadium

London Midland trains stop additionally at Wembley Central after most major events taking at Wembley Stadium. It takes 20 minutes to walk between the station and the stadium.

Before the event: trains heading towards London Euston usually stop at Wembley Central for up to 3 hours before the scheduled start time / kick-off. Please note that we cannot stop at Wembley before weekday events due to limited capacity on board our trains.

After the event: trains heading towards Watford Junction and further north usually stop at Wembley Central for up to 3 hours after the event's scheduled finish time. Please give yourself plenty of time to catch your preferred train as we operate a queuing system at the station.

If you are travelling to/from London, you should take the Jubilee or Metropolitan Line to Wembley Park station.

Getting to events at Ricoh Arena, Coventry

Capacity on trains serving Coventry Arena Station is extremely limited. You are recommended to travel to and from Ricoh Arena by road. Please check the event organiser’s travel advice when making your travel arrangements.

Q: Why can’t we provide more capacity on event days?

Coventry Arena Station opened in January 2016 as part of the first phase of a multi-million pound project, led by Coventry City Council, to enhance services between Coventry and Nuneaton. The second phase of the project will deliver track and signalling improvements to enable a doubling in the daytime service frequency to 2 trains per hour Monday-Saturday, together with the capability for extra trains to run on special event days.

Until the next phase of the project is delivered, it is not possible for these enhanced services to be introduced. We have doubled capacity on the line at weekends since the station opened by adding an extra carriage. Unfortunately, it is not possible to lengthen trains further as all suitable carriages are fully deployed elsewhere on the network.
